Wow! What a truly vintage weekend! We're exhausted but we've had a great time.
The Dawlish Antiques and Vintage Fair on Saturday went really well. After an early 5am start to get over to the Strand Centre to set up the room we were ready and waiting to welcome all of our lovely stallholders as they arrived and the whole day flew by. There were so many exciting things - the street market, circus acts, puppet shows - happening in Dawlish that there was a great buzz throughout the day. The highlights had to be the stilt walkers visiting us and one of them buying our 1970s jump suit, carrot cake courtesy of fellow stallholder Shirley and, of course, lots of happy customers. To celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend and the Dawlish Street Market and Fun Day we stayed open until 4pm and still had customers coming in after we'd closed!
On Sunday it was the Dawlish Heritage Cycle Day. Another early start to get our outfits ready and make sure our bikes were ok. We met our fellow vintage cyclists on the Lawn at 10am and everyone looked fantastic. First of all it was a ride to Luscombe Castle, which is always so pretty riding up the drive, and then onto the Manor House via the Dawlish Museum. We reconvened back on The Lawn to watch the lovely Liberty Sisters, who always put on a great show before heading over to Powderham Castle and back. It's roughly 11 miles there and back and when you haven't been on your bike since the previous summer everything ached a little the following morning! Ouch! The journey's so pretty and with the company of the other bike riders we enjoyed every minute of it though and can't wait to do it again. Thank you Mr Porch for arranging such a great day, all for free too!
On Monday we chilled out still managed to see the Panaticals steel drum band on the Lawn, what a great set, and later we popped over to the Swan Inn for some free (yes free!) food courtesy of Black Swan Dining who put on a taster menu before they open at the pub on 7 June. Their potato wedges and pizza dough balls are to die for! Music was also provided by The Deloreans, whose lead singer has an amazing soulful voice, and then it was The Ambassadors who were great fun! Kudos to local legend Brian Steffans for joining the band on a couple of blues numbers as well.

All in all a truly vintage bank holiday weekend!
