Teignmouth Retail Therapy!
![]() |
| Our two favourite things - vinyl and cider! |
We spent Saturday afternoon in Teignmouth and had an excellent time. It was good to have a relaxing afternoon especially as the morning had included a visit to Totnes and Newton Abbot!
Popping into Joli Brise for Spoony's Cider Festival and quenching our thirst with a couple of very refreshing ciders 'Bush Pig' and Saxbys, we then trawled Teignmouth's charity shops . Along the way we bought a very pretty 80s flowery blouse and some cool CDs including Bjork's 1993 album Debut.
We haven't been able to visit Sound Preservation Society Records as often as we would like to recently so it was great to have the chance to spend time rummaging through the wide selection of great vinyl for sale. The owner Matt is always very friendly and helpful and his music knowledge is hard to beat. We could easily spend a whole day in there. We bought an eclectic range of records everything from the Black and White album by The Stranglers to a 12inch promo by reggae band Black Uhuru to female hip hop band Salt n Pepa's (remember them from the 80s) first album. Matt's prices are very sensible and we both left with big smiles on our faces. Cheers Matt, we can't wait for our next visit. You can find Sound Preservation Society Records at 2Fore Street in Teignmouth.
Another one of our favourite shops in Teignmouth is Bella's Emporium at 14 Regent Street. The shop is so beautifully stocked and there's so many pretty things to look at. As we were already laden down with vinyl and our charity shop finds unfortunately we weren't able to carry the art nouveau stained class cupboard home which we eyed up on the train home. Bella's Emporium is the perfect place to look for unique items for your home and should be in every interior designer's contact book. We had a lovely chat with co-owner Keith and he very kindly took some flyers for our fairs. Don't forget the next one is on Saturday 24th August.
All in all Teignmouth was a great place to end a very busy day!

| Our love of 78s
The sunshine was out so we were hoping that they'd be lots of dealers outside and there were. In fact the outside area was full with loads of pickings to be had.

| One of the many ciders tried |
We bought a very cool vintage Polaroid camera still in its original box and with its original manual, a very pretty Japonais vintage handbag, jazz and blues 78s and some very pretty marcasite brooches. All of these items will be available to buy from our future fairs of course and the next one's on Saturday 24 August...not long now folks!

Sunday was a much quieter day and in the afternoon a VIP visited us as she wanted something new to wear for the Dawlish Carnival which is taking place in a couple of weeks time. Two jackets, one dress and a handbag later she was a very happy customer!

£5 and under Summer Sale!
Over the summer months we've been collecting lots of lovely summery vintage clothes, shoes and jewellery and to make sure they get the love and attention they deserve during our British summer we've decided to have a £5 and under sale!
We'll be posting some of these items on our Facebook and Instagram pages so please contact us as soon as you see the posts come up. They won't be for sale for long!
Please note that all items will exclude postage and packaging costs but we promise to be very fair with these costs.
We'll also be having a £5 and under rail at our next Antiques and Vintage Fair (August 24th) too.
Happy Shopping!

| One of the Old's Cool Traders |
After weeks of waiting (we had June off) it's unbelievable to think that July's Dawlish Vintage and Antiques Fair has been and gone. It'll be Christmas before we know it...yikes!
The fair was busy pretty much all day and we were at full capacity with our stalls (a big thank you to our lovely stallholders and thank goodness we got to the Strand Centre extra early to set up!) too. We always know it's been a busy fair when the day just flies by, you look at your watch one minute and it's 10am the next it's 3pm and closing time!
Vintage clothes seem to be the big sellers of the day, especially shoes, and we loved helping our customers add something vintage to their summer wardrobe.
Our next fair' s on Bank Holiday Saturday August 24th...be there or be square!

Tick Tock It's Vintage and Antiques Fair O'Clock!
OMG! How did that happen! Despite having no fair during the month of June the next Dawlish Vintage and Antiques Fair's come around remarkably quickly...in fact... hurrah...it's back tomorrow. We can't wait!
We're ready, the stallholders (our great regulars and some fab new faces too) are ready, the Strand Centre (such a wonderful venue with free entry too and a cafe, what more you could need?!) is ready and Dawlish is ready (the banners are up)...so make sure you're ready and come down to the fair tomorrow between 10am - 3pm. You won't be disappointed!

| At Snooky Fest! |
Last weekend was full on...Snooky Fest on Saturday and then the Historic Car Rally at Powderham Castle on Sunday. We've been to London and back since Sunday for a night at the opera, a flying visit to celebrate a family birthday and a quick dash around Alfie's Antiques Market! We had such a great time over the weekend rather than bore you with words we thought we'd share some of the photos we took instead!

Snooky-car-e-expialidocious!
The sun's out and the forecast's looking good for the weekend.
Perfect timing then to pop down to Warren Park Farm for Snooky Fest on Saturday and Powderham Castle for the Historic Car Gathering (it's their 46th year this year...wow!) on Sunday.
We'll be giving out flyers for our antiques and vintage fairs at Snooky Fest too so come and say 'Hello!'

It's all hotting up!
With not long to go now until our next Dawlish Antiques and Vintage Fair on 20th July this weekend was all about filling in on the gaps on our stall and finding items we'd been asked to look out for.
A good place to do that is always another antiques fair and Saturday's in Marsh Barton didn't disappoint, especially as we'd been asked to look out for vintage ethnic jewellery, vintage sewing items, big 80s earrings, brooches and anything David Bowie!
We popped into The Attic too, always a treasure trove of vintage goodies, and picked up a lovely 1960s Huntley and Palmers cocktail biscuit tin and very pretty bakelite radio (that might not make it out of our private collection for a while though!).
The plan was also to visit Dodo Room, you can find Simon and his shop, just underneath The Attic but we ran out of time. We'll definitely pop in the next time we're in the area though, the photos look amazing.
A quick but refreshing pint (or two...blame the sun!) of Old Rosie at Exeter St Thomas' Spooneys finished off our mad shopping spree. It's certainly much harder work in the sunshine.
We're all ready now for our fair on 20th July so pop along down to the Strand Centre to look at the different stalls. We're welcoming several new traders this time (plus our lovely regulars of course) and it promises to be our biggest and best fair so far!

Fair we go again!
Most people suffer withdrawal symptoms from chocolate, wine, cheese, fags, cider etc etc. Ok yes we'll be the first to admit that we're prone to most of these but we always get our biggest withdrawal symptoms from not going to a really good antiques fair.
Due to Let's Rock last weekend and other commitments we seem to have had a 6 week hiatus. Thank goodness the Matford Antiques and Collectors Fair is on tomorrow then and as the weather's so glorious there should be lots of stalls outside - always our favourite bit!
We'll have our shopping heads on tomorrow so fingers crossed there'll be lots of good pickings. We'll keep you posted!

Let's Rock Exeter 2019!
On Saturday we popped along to Powderham Castle for our 4th Let's Rock Exeter festival.
The highlights were the effortlessly cool Belinda Carlisle, Betty Boo 'doing the do', synth pioneer Thomas Dolby and the always amazing Human League. We were chuffed that we also got to see Jenny from The Belle Stars, Belouis Some and Billy Ocean.
Check out the review from our favourite music blogger, The Hearing Aid, right here!
